Buffy - a very special dog

It is very sad to have to make this post but Buffy had to be put to sleep yesterday afternoon after suffering a heart attack and possible stroke. There was no indication of a problem, she had been spending a relaxed few hours in the garden.

She was a very special little dog who had drawn the short straw in life. She will be greatly missed. She died exactly one year to the day after she first came to us.

Buffy 2003? - 1st August 2010

Lived in Draycot Cerne 1st August 2009 to 1st August 2010.

On holiday again!

I’ve been on my travels again – this time I even left the country! We’ve been to New Quay in Wales for a week. It was a watching holiday. ‘They’ watched for dolphins; I watched for people, dogs and chips. I won!

PS

Don’t panic about the chips and my health – ‘they’ stopped me eating them (or so they think!)

PPS

I won’t let them add the photo of me being carried to the quay!!

A Weekend Break

Hey! guess what folks, I've been away for a weekend break! As it happened the weather was fantastic, gloriously sunny and warm but with a pleasant sea breeze so I could stay cool in the shade, it certainly made up for the last time I was away when it rained all the time.
So, I thought you would want to see a few photos of me!

We went to the seaside, as you can see but actually I'm not really very interested in the beach or the sea preferring to stand and watch all of the comings and goings, birds, people or dogs. In view of my condition I think this is probably for the best.

As much as I liked the break I don't want to give the impression that going away is easy for me. I still have to take things very carefully. There are no long walks along the coast path, no frolicking in the sea, no chasing seagulls, just a very slow amble along the sea wall, sometimes resting to catch my breath, sometimes being carried to speed things up a little.

That's all for now except to say that a new dosage of medication seems to be working, generally feeling better. Hope it lasts. Bye.

Back in the Garden

After a long hard winter of lounging around all day and sleeping in front of the fire all evening (it’s a hard life here in Wiltshire!) it’s great to be back out in the garden again. Fresh air for a few hours then back in front of the fire and I’m out like a log. I have great dreams where I can run and chase cats. My legs twitch, I yap - and then I hear people laughing at me!

I don’t know where they’ve been all winter, but The Boys are back in the garden. Just to be on the safe side, I did a quick health and safety check of their run before they moved in.

We went to Devon the other week and it rained every day. Now I understand the sea – it’s just a HUGE puddle. The stairs in the holiday cottage were really steep so I was carried up and down to bed so that I didn’t get puffed out - apart from the night I raced to the top before anyone could catch me! Okay, my tongue went a bit blue but it was worth it to see ‘their’ faces!!

I'm a happy dog!

I’m a happy dog! The weather’s getting better and we’ve started to get out in the garden again. There’s so much for me to do. There’s the chickens next door that I need to keep an eye on, and the pond – I don’t know what’s been going on round there during the winter, but my nose has to work overtime in that part of the garden. And I’ve got to get the greenhouse ready for my next crop of cherry tomatoes – they were a nice little treat every time I went in the greenhouse last summer, and not fattening!

If it’s cold I wear my coat just so that I don’t get too chilly, but I’m going to put in a request for two pairs of boots – my paws were freezing today!

Christmas and snow

Well, I’ve had my first Christmas in Wiltshire. We had a tree in our living room – not just any old tree, but one decorated with lights. Everyone thought I’d be interested in it, but I had a quick look and a sniff then went back to playing with my teddy. I was more interested when a food parcel with my name on it appeared under the tree. It was full of my favourite treats! The best part of Christmas was having extra people around. I get excited when people arrive and my back legs let me down sometimes, so I get sent to my bed for a while until I calm down but then I’m fine. I just love making a fuss of everyone.

My human ‘brother’ and his girlfriend are staying with us for a while which is great because I’ve now got twice as many people to play with! They know that I have to take things easy but we’ve got lots of games that we can play. I’ll miss them when they go, but they’ve said I can visit them in their new house once they move in, so I’m going to keep them to that.

I’m not sure that I like the winter. The snow is fun, but it’s all too cold for me and takes my breath away so I can’t go for walks at the moment. Roll on the spring.

Merry Christmas Everyone

Merry Christmas Everyone!
As you can see we've had snow. I was so interested in it that I just would not pose for the camera. I just kept sniffing around much to my peoples' annoyance! This one was the best they could get. Anyway, Christmas Day will soon be here, so I think they should be able to get a few shots of me opening my pressies!
