Merry Christmas Everyone

Merry Christmas Everyone!
As you can see we've had snow. I was so interested in it that I just would not pose for the camera. I just kept sniffing around much to my peoples' annoyance! This one was the best they could get. Anyway, Christmas Day will soon be here, so I think they should be able to get a few shots of me opening my pressies!

About Me

Hi I'm Buffy, it's been said that I'm a Springer Spaniel/Collie cross but no one really knows. I’m six years old and I’ve just found a new home after spending the last two and half years being looked after in the best animal rescue centre around, Trindledown Farm. I now live near Chippenham, Wiltshire England in a very small village called Draycot Cerne.

I'm a very special little girl, loving and friendly, bright and happy but I have a bit of a problem with my heart. It's called a Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) bit of a mouthful I know but it means that I mustn't over do things.

I have the less common and inoperable right to left shunting PDA. I have tried various medications for my condition but with very limited success. Google “reverse Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) dogs” for more information.

A brief History of Me

I was probably born in 2003.

Nobody knows where I lived from then until I was found as a stray by a south coast dog warden in 2007.

My stay with the dog warden was short, about seven days. Most strays are reunited with thier owners very quickly but nobody came for me. At this time my heart condition was unknown.

I left the dog warden’s care to travel to the Watford NAWT centre. It was there that my condition became apparent. The NAWT paid for me to see a veterinary cardiologist who diagnosed a reverse shunting PDA. Everyone at Watford did their best for me but I was finding life there stressful so it was decided that I should move to the tranquil setting of Trindledown Farm.

I was very happy at Trindledown. I was very well looked after. I also had quite a number of people consider re-homing me but unfortunately no one was really suitable because of my PDA. In July 2009 the people who live with me now came to Trindledown looking to re-home a dog. As luck would have it they met my requirements for new owners as they had no other pets or children that might cause me stress and they lived in a quiet country location so I left Trindledown and moved to Wiltshire in August 2009.
